What we do best
My husband has been in two other long term care + rehab facilities. I definitely rank AHC VanAyer more satisfactory than those. With the exceptions of a very few CNA's, I find the staff to be caring and compassionate. The administrator at VanAyer is extremely helpful. And unlike what I saw at other facilities.

The only complaint that is ongoing is the food. Hard for her to cut up or even know what the meat is. Has limited vision and is hard to please with her food however staff is very good about fixing a sandwich if she has found her meal unsuitable. I would probably complain too if I were in her situation but every day I am thankful for the over all good care. Just want this virus contained so that she can go back to having visitors in her room for some sense of normalcy.

What we do best
During the pandemic, the staff would take time to get me connected with my mom on FaceTime. I enjoy the staff and I am confident in the entire staff. Our family has used. VanAyers has been a place of healing for my family during the last several years. I'm thankful for the facility and the staff.

They all are very good group of people. They always do their best to figure out the best solution to a situation that works even during these hard times.

Most all staff are wonderful - just a couple of times my loved one felt he was treated with disrespect. Some times he complains on weekend staff being slow to respond.

My mom resided on and off at Van Ayer for years. When she was able, she went to assisted living. When she was sick or unable, she was a resident. She has been skilled and ICF. Staff visited her at assisted living, when she was able to be there. They showed compassion and treated her like family. Her last few weeks, she was total care. The last week, unresponsive. When I wasn't there, Van Ayer staff was. When she was dying, staff and residents stayed beside us; holding both my and my mom's hand. They used the IN2L t play gospel music in her room, which she loved. They also brought it in and played when she was unresponsive. I will never forget the support and love given to me by everyone at Van Ayer.
